Making a good impression in a meeting room is the ideal way to get noticed, be it in an inter-corporate meeting or an intra-corporate meeting. But how do you make a good impression where the who’s who of the industry are present?
Below are a few ways you can do so:
Be a good listener
To begin with, remember, the meeting is not just about you. You are one of the attendees in the meeting room. Be a good listener, pay attention. Always carry a pen and notebook to a meeting room. It shows how involved you are in the meeting.
If you are in a meeting, you matter
You might hold a more junior position than the people around you; however, if you are present in a meeting room, you matter. So, where you think you have a valid point, talk. However, make sure you do not talk out of turn and while trying to make your point clear, you do not put down someone else.
Be courteous, but firm
Often you will see someone else might be trying to shoot down a valid point made by you. However, be confident if you know something and say the same with clarity. Don’t be rude to a person even if he/she has been rude to you. Be firm, but courteous.
A meeting room is a place where leaders are tested. Conduct yourself with poise and confidence in the meeting room, the right people will notice you in no time.
