In fact, according to CareerCast’s 2016 list of most stressful jobs, event planning takes the fifth spot!

So how can you minimize the stress when it comes to planning corporate events? First of all, accept that no events can be 100% perfect, and expect there will be some road bumps along the way. Having realistic expectations help so that you won’t tear yourself apart when there are slight changes in your plan.

Delegate tasks well to your team. However don’t pile up very different tasks on a single individual, or even yourself as multitasking is known to be one of the main causes of stress. You may think you can octopus your way into your to-do list, but if you have too many things going on at one time, there are bound to be mistakes and forgotten details which cause even more stress. The focus is the key to getting things down efficiently.

If you are tech-savvy, do get tools to help you out with the planning process. Fortunately, there are many useful event planning apps not which let you organize and delegate tasks via your smart devices. Some noteworthy ones include Evernote and Slack which come with cool features that can be used to collaborate with your team members.
